|Subject: museums that you have especially liked|
We recently returned from London, Rome, south of Rome, and Assisi.
We went to many museums, but want to recommend a few of our favorites.
In London--the new Tate Modern. This museum is located on the south bank--right on the Thames. An outdated power plant was converted into this awesome museum. The space is wonderful and the collections are organized into themes. We went on a tour and found that to be an eye opener. Never one to really like modern art, I came away with a new appreciation.
In Rome--the Doria Pamphili--a collection of one family over several centuries, it is displayed in their huge home. I thought the Caravaggio of Rest on the Flight to Egypt one of the most beautiful paintings I have ever seen.
Also in Rome--the Villa Borghese with its wonderful sculptures and even more wonderful Caravaggios.
