Subject: Hotels in St. Moritz and Zermatt
Our very favorite hotel in St. Moritz is the 21-room Hotel Languard, open June through Oct. Get a balcony room on the top floor---wonderful, wood-panelled rooms with glorious views over the lake. The No. 9 corner room is also a beautiful room. Very hospitable owners. Breakfast only---again a gorgeous lakefront breakfast room. Room service available for things like a drink, a cappucino, etc.

The last time we were in St. Moritz, we were leading an adult student group and stayed at the Belvedere Hotel, which we also loved. It is larger and more swank. Get a room overlooking the lake. Rooms are beautifully furnished and public rooms magnificent. Both hotels are good value.

In Zermatt, the Riffelalp Hotel (a Seiler hotel), located at the first stop of the mountain railway, has the most magnificent location, high up overlooking the Matterhorn. When we stayed there a few years ago, the hotel was small; however, it has now recently reopened after a huge expansion. I have not seen this, so don't know if some of the ambiance is lost. But it certainly has the most spectacular location!! Cheers, Pat in Baltimore
