Subject: Collecting places
I collect cemeteries. It all started many years ago when we were spending summers in Vermont; the small cemeteries were located in such scenic, peaceful spots that we started wandering through them. That led to lots of grave rubbings, historical research, and then doing talks/shows of rubbings for various Vermont historical societies. Since then, wherever we are, I am drawn to small cemeteries---places where I can contemplate, wonder, and try to piece together lives of past times. It is amazing what we learn by talking with other people in cemeteries and with locals in villages (if we can speak the language). Even if not, we find that cemeteries and burial customs differ greatly in various countries and it is just another way to get an insight into the areas we visit. Also, it is relaxing. Pat in Baltimore
