Subject: Re: private railroads in France

A friend of mine recommends this book:

A Guide to Narrow Gauge Railways on the Continent - France, Switzerland and the Benelux Countries, Victor R Belot, published by Comet Books.

It is a really useful book, it includes some standard gauge tracks and SNFC narrow gauge stuff. France is full of private lines, some quite long and some historic [a length of narrow gauge railway built by the British Army in the Somme is still in use plus the first long length of electrified track in the World (according to the French).
