Subject: New road rules in Italy |
Hello
this is just to let you know two new important rules of the road just approved in Italy: All motorcycles must have their headlights on at all times on every road, including in towns; On highways and similar roads, all cars must have their headlights on all the time. The new rules are enforced immediately, but police will issue only warnings for a trial period of two months, after which fines will be high. Highway speed limits haven't been modified for now: 130 kph reduced to 50 kph in case of fog or very low visibility. For all of you foreigners driving in Italy: don't always guess an action is ok just because many Italian drivers do it: Always use your own head and follow the rules; better being honked or cursed than running into a speed checkpoint or have your car towed away for parking violations!
