Subject: Travel(ling) books

IMHO the king of travel books is still Bruce Chatwin: In Patagonia really puts you right in the mood for starting to pack your backpack and leave. While many of you appreciate European-based novels, I feel I need to remember the amazing atmospheres of Southern USA as told by two different writers: the hot, swampy stories of New Orleans by James Lee Burke and the crazy but funny Florida-behind-the-scene by Carl Hiaasen. Well, everybody finds his treat far from home, doesn't he? Living, like me, less than two hours' drive from Venice has little appeal and I love brownies more than baicoli (traditional Venetian biscuits)! Bye all Paolo Trieste, Italy
