Subject: Our Itinerary (mainly Alsace) Any advice? |
Our plans now are:
July 25th -- travel to Bruges July 26th -- on to the little wine village of Nittel in the Saar near Saarburg, stopping at Trier on the way. July 27th -- travel to a gite in Ruiquewihr, nr Colmar staying there a week. August 3rd -- Ronchamp, Langre, staying in an old windmill in the village of Foissy-Sur-Vanne nr Sens. Then either Chartres or Giverny and staying in a B&B in Brosville south of Rouen. The next day back to Calais for the late afternoon shuttle to the UK. Not sure where we will stop, probably Rouen. Any advice on things to see/do/places to eat/drink in any of the areas above? What we really aren't sure about is Giverny on a Sunday afternoon versus Chartres. We know Monet's gardens will be terribly crowded at that time. I don't guess anyone from here will be in Alsace during the week we're there? At least we can hope for a GTG in Wells. I did say what a great one we had with Susie in Boston in April, didn't I (agh, I really should have written, Susie, as well as Helen, sorry). And where are Edna and Bill Martens? Haven't heard from them since we saw them in London last January. Thanks. Doug |
