Subject: Last year for Labrador Coastal Steamer, Northern Ranger
Dear Ziners: I have just heard from a staff member that this will be the last year for the Labrador Coastal Steamer, going from St. Anthony, Newfoundland to Nain, Labrador, and back, stopping at many ports (often Inuit and Innu villages) not served by roads. How sad! The ship has been sold and, by next year, roads will go as far as Pinsent's Arm. We took this 12-day trip last year and it was absolutely one of the most fascinating trips we have ever had. The ship runs from mid-July till October only, with only 12 cabins for round-trip passengers and is often sold out well ahead of the season. But, if any of you are interested, take the chance and call them (there is a website) and see if there are any openings. If you would like more details, just ask us! Cheers, Pat in Baltimore
