Here its known as the Mediterranean diet.
People eat more fat and live longer.
No-one knows why !
The diet includes plenty of red wine and pastis , followed by ................lean meat (bull, agneau de lait, pork), escargots, lots of fresh fish and shellfish, french bread, tomatoes, green peppers, courgettes, aubergines, olives, olive oil, garlic, anchovies, fresh fruit (peaches, lemons, oranges, apricots, figs, melons,nefli, etc) and a huge variety of goat, sheep, and cow cheeses.
I don't know the secret, but I think it may be the red wine !
