|Subject: England's Lake District|
Wow you MUST really love the Lake District.
Unfortunately, because of the high cost of plane travel from New Zealand, along with the state of the NZ dollar, we usually make it a point of visiting a country, town or city, once. There has been a few exceptions, i.e. Paris, London, but generally it is only once.
Therefore we try and cram in as much as possible, knowing that we will not be returning. To this end we rarely use trains or buses, the exception being the underground in the larger cities, but always hire a car. Rarely do we spend one night in a stopover, usually three or more and when we do visit Europe it is usually for a period of six weeks or more.
We are staying 4 days in a little village named Near Sawrey, near Hawkshead, which in turn is close to Ambleside. I hope I am not asking too much but would it be possible for you to list some 'must see' Cumbrian attractions, scenic drives and some lovely walks.
I thank you and look forward to your reply.
