Subject: Re: England's Lake District
Hi Richard. Have you seen this site of walks in the Lake District? http://www.lakedistrictwalks.com/ldwalks.html There is a brief outline of the walk and you can click on any that take your fancy for more details. If you are a map man the Ordinance Survey maps are amazing. We used to live on Morecambe Bay about 30 to 40 minutes drive from Ambleside and have done many of these walks. Just about any walk will be wonderful, I hope you are in shape as it can be very depressing to be overtaken by a couple of octogenarians striding over the fells brandishing their walking sticks and leaving you in their wake.

Drive over Wrynose Pass the top of which marks the boundaries of the counties of Lancashire, Cumberland and Westmoreland - wild moorland and fantastic views. Also the notorious Hardknott Pass. Have a great time in Beatrix Potter country. Sue Toronto http://www.wright-photo.com
