Subject: England Countdown
Hi All,

We are now beginning to get quite excited about our upcoming trip to England. I thought I would write about our plans and hope to get some feedback on things to see, and especially restaurants. We haven't had such great luck in finding good food in England, and hope that some of you will have places to recommend.

We arrive in Wells on August 29 and stay two nights. I think this short visit will be crammed with just seeing the town and its attractions, and we hope to make a quick visit to Glastonbury and see Cheddar Gorge. Our hotel in Wells in The Crown.

Then we are off for three nights in Mevagissey. We hope to explore the coast nearby, and make excursions to the Lizard and Roseland peninsulas. On the way, we will stop in either Dartmoor (any recommendations for a quick stop?) or Polperro. The Salamander in Mevagissey has been recommended as good restaurant. We will be staying at the Trevalsa Court Hotel.

Then two nights in Bath. Having had a frightful meal at the much lauded Moon and Sixpence, we are almost afraid to eat in Bath. Any recommendations would be appreciated. (I just read another review praising the Moon and Sixpence and its gnocchi. I had these gnocchi and I can't even begin to tell you how awful I found them. They tasted like what I would imagine crumb coated hockey pucks to taste like.) We also had two good dinners at the Bath outpost of Pierre Victoire, but we have since heard that it is not as good as it was a few years ago. Our hotel is The Abbey Hotel.

We are leaving our car in Bath and taking the train to London. We are staying in the Thistle Kensington Palace. We have been to London twice as a couple, and I have been there two times before that. We know our way around a bit, but would also like to hear anyone's special recommendations.

Thanks Debbie in Pittsburgh
