Being a native Oregonian, I'll second Gail's description of the Oregon coast as a great family vacation site. I lived in Seaside for 18 years &my 2 sons grew up there. It's a great place for kids. Cannon Beach a few miles south of Seaside is a slo a great family place. Haystack Rock is a super place to visit the tide pools.
Now high desert country where I now live is equally terrific as a family vacation spot. We have cowboys &Indians (not however, like the movies) hot springs, great Indian museum, lots of sparkling lakes &rivers to float on &fish &swim in. Views of snow-capped mountains in the distance, craggy outcrops of weathered rock....it's beautiful &desolate.
Oregon is very, very underrated as a tourist destination. I guess some of us like it like that. But we'd love to have you visit &might even be available for a gtg.
