|Subject: Re: Disappointing Destinations|
When I read about Florence it came to my mind, perhaps there are towns that
rise in my admiration a lot when I step away from the main tourist attractions
and wander thru the by-roads - other towns lose the last bit of attractiveness.
Florence, Venice, perhaps most Italian towns are wonderful places to walk thru the narrow paths away from the main piazzas. But I've found several towns yet (some of them in my home country Germany) where the sightseeing points are really nice but the rest of town might be just normal - nothing special, nothing that attracts me in any way. Of course that's a very general view but just an idea why some towns I tend to like more and more on each new visit and others I'm fine with leaving after the first time and never returning at all...
