London is like that. The main thoroughfares with taxis and busses and
tourists...all that fades right away, even the sound, when you turn a corner
down a small street and begin wandering among the mews streets...even a
block away from Harrods, you can find little empty streets, a few people
walking their dogs, and, if you really know where to look, a wonderful pub.
Houses with bits of garden, someone washing their car, trees, corner shops.
And you would NOT know it was all back there from the High Street or
