Glad to hear that you had a good time in Turkey and that my input helped. I, too, bought some of the blue eyes (I also brought some from Greece). Since I always try to find something from a place that I visit that we can use on our Christmas tree, the eyes were a natural choice. But in Istanbul I also bought some tiny carvings of fish that are done in meerschaum. They have a little metal circle through the nose, which I assume should be put on a key ring. But I thought they would go well on a hook for the tree. Unfortunately, one of our cats (or all three acting in concert) removed them from the coffee table as soon as we put them there, and I have not been able to find them. I'm consoling myself with the thought that the cats are indoor cats, so, how far could they have taken the fish? Hopefully they haven't gone up the vacuum nozzle.
One other thing that I brought from Turkey that was inexpensive and lightweight: packages of little gift cards with designs like Turkish carpets or Iznic tiles. They are quite lovely.
