|Subject: Aussies in London|
Opinions welcomed please! My major hunting exercise for the best possible accommodation charges for our 3 nights in London (October 21-24) is adding weight to the idea that Aussies should just stay at home these days and the rest of you should be visiting us.
We're narrowing the options. Best possible B&B currently is London Town Hotel, Earls Court for special internet rate of L50.21 + tax. Convert that to our current exchange rate (L1=$AU2.80) and it will cost us $AU495.60 for 3 nights! See what I mean?
Our option is to stay at hospital accommodation available to us as I will be observing there. The hospital accommodation will include tax. ..there will be a shared kitchen so we will be able to prepare some food ourselves. There are places to eat on site and it will cost about L2 each (depending on what we eat obviously!)for breakfast and approximately L3 for lunch. There's a large supermarket within walking distance.
That's in North London which is right in the hospital but will mean transport into London central to see the sights = more money.
Only other real option hasn't been fully explored yet - some private-home-type B&Bs for L20 per person per night but are going to mean walk then train to wherever we go - either hospital or sightseeing.
So what do you think, you learned travellers with great experience of London? Are we on the right track thinking it will be best at the hospital (with own food from supermarket?) and pay the day-ticket price for transport into sights to see?
All advice gratefully received.
Cheers from the best place to travel to - Downunder! Margot from Gold Coast.
