Hi Patti ...
My husband and I, who are in our 50's and 60's, have taken numerous cruises over the years. We are both prone to sea-sickness but with the patch (which others have mentioned), have NEVER had a problem.
For a first cruise, I would recommend a spring/summer Alaskan Inside Passage cruise. We have taken it three times on both Holland America and Crystal Cruise lines and really had no need for the patch ... very calm waters as others have talked about.
One of our very favorite cruises with calm waters was taken on The Bergen Line, Norwegian Coastal Cruises: http://www.coastalvoyage.com It can be taken for 7 or 12 days in combination with air packages. In fact, we are going to take it for 15 days over Christmas/New Years this year (have to see the Aurora Borealis). We took the seven day cruise last summer ... fabulous!!!
DO NOT HESITATE!!
