Welcome to the group. It's a great source of travel info from very helpful people.
Are you going to Quebec and Montreal at that time of year for a specific reason? I ask this because it isn't the most pleasant time of the year to visit. It is usually pretty cool--even cold--weather, the leaves have fallen off the trees, and it's too early for snow. However, Montreal has miles of underground shopping and access to places of interest, so you don't have to go out of doors too much.
They are both beautiful cities and there is so much to see. I'm sure you will have a nice trip, no matter when you go. I just wondered if you had thought about the weather. The French flavour makes you feel as if you are in Europe, without that long trip! Since you are coming from San Diego, the flight will already be long enough.
