I live in Western Australia. You have mentioned the words truck stop. I think this will confuse people here as truck means a large transport vehicle. By saying truck stop people will interpret that as a Roadhouse. Because distances are so great especially on this side of the continent trucks are huge and often haul two large trailers. A Roadhouse is a place for fuel, food and sometimes short term accommodation.
If you want discotheques, fine dining and golf outside the main centres you would probably be restricted to resorts based around an hotel or apartments. I'm not sure whether this is totally true on the East coast of Queensland and NSW.
