Subject: Re: Naples FL |
Hello Debbie
I travelled this year to Marco Island that is very close to Naples Florida. I really enjoyed my trip and I have a few suggestions for nearby Marco Island. Marco Island is quite pretty with nice beaches. Two beaches are public. One is South Beach and the other one I forgot the name. Two good restaurants on Marco Island is Voyager that is part of the Hilton Hotel and Kretch's Restaurant at 527 Bald Eagle Drive. Both restaurants are American cuisine and about $22 for the main course. The Nature Conservancy's Briggs Nature Center offers a very nice and relaxing sunset cruise. The ride is along the mangrove swamps and at the end of the ride passengers are treated to seeing many birds fly in to roost for the night on two very small islands along with a beautiful sunset. Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary managed by the Audubon Society is quite interesting. It is bit east of Naples and is only 2 miles long on an easy boardwalk. This short walk takes one past several different ecosystems and has many animals especially birds. The sanctuary is a good introduction to the Southwestern Florida environment. Everglades City offers a nice boat ride from the National Park Service of the Ten Thousand Islands area. Very informative with a good chance of spotting wildlife. Hope this helps, Ed |
