Subject: Malta to Pescia, Italy
Hi Joan

Have just re-read my diary from my trip to Malta, so the following comments may be of assistace to you, dependent on your interests.

On Malta island -- my recommendations are to visit the Hagar Qim and Mnajdra temples (which are very close to each other). Incredible structures built about 5000 years ago. An absolute must is the walled town of Mdina and a wander through the township of Rabbat (close to Mdina). I also found the Armoury Museum at Valetta worth seeing. Churches are absolutely everywhere -- my favourites were The Mdina Cathedral and St Johns Co-Cathedral in Valetta.

On Gozo island (if you are going there) - recommendations are the Gozo Citadel in Victoria; Ta Pinu pilgrims' church and the associated sculptures on the hill opposite; the Cathedral of St Peter &St Paul at Nadur; the cathedral at Xewkija and the incredible ancient Ggantiji Temple at Xaghra.

It sounds like constant church and temple viewing, but this is not the case -- there is plenty of other amusement between such visits. The islands are incredibly historical. Loved it all!!

I'm sure you will enjoy your stay there.

Cheers, Peter (ex Adelaide Australia, now London)
