I was in Giverny last month and the place was very interesting, even if it was packed with tourists. Monet's house is a bit cramped but it gives you very well the clue of what it was living there. The gardens are of course very scenic; I guess you'll find few flowers in October though. The surroundings are full of restaurants, snack and take-away joints, antique (or so called) shops, but I didn't stop there because everything looked a bit too much like a tourist trap. The city of Vernon is very close, almost within walking distance.
