Dear Elizabeth,
We recently returned from a week's stay in Montreal and Quebec City. It was
our first visit and we loved it. We had a wonderful rate from the Ritz
Carlton at 1228 Sherbrooke 800-241-3333 and liked that location. It's near
great restaurants and across from the Museum. The exchange rate made our
vacation a great bargain.
We ate at Bice 1504 Sherbrooke 514-927-6009 our first night, modern Italian
food. The weather was warm and we sat outside in under a huge tent.
The food and the wine was excellent as well as the service.
Moishe's, has been in operation since 1938 and is an upscale but not fancy
restaurant. They have a web site www.moishes.ca you can check out. I'd advise
that if you go there, be sure you're hungry. We wanted to go back but didn't
have time.
After strolling around the Old Town we went to Chinatown which is nearby and
had dim sum at Ruby Rouge Restaurant 1008 Clark Street, 514-390-8828.
For a sumptuous deli style breakfast, we found Reuben's on Rue Ste.
Catherine's 514-866-1029 also a web site www.reubensdeli.com
If you're looking for furs, Rue Mayer is the place to go. We liked the folks
at Hercules, ask for Pat or Peter, it's a family business.
Also, if the weather is nice a Bateau Mouche is fun and gives you an overview
and history lesson for an hour or so. Montreal is a walking city so be sure
to take comfortable shoes.
Have a great time and let us know all about it.
Happy Travels,
Rebbi
