I am planning a weekend trip to Paris with a friend - we are escaping from our respective families! She is looking at brochures while I am researching the DIY route. I can get flight from Heathrow for £90/$135? I would appreciate hotel recommendations. The brochures are all 2 stars and the average cost, including flights is £170. The photos look great but the last 2 star Parisian hotel I stayed in was a dump. It was a hot summer and the windows did not open! It was also full of drunken Danish soocer fans over for a European cup final! And that was my honeymoon! Can we get a better deal doing it ourselves? We are prepared to splash out a little for some luxury. We are both in need of a little pampering!
