Subject: Paris Hotel
Bill Taylor, who used to write a travel column for the Toronto Star, has a favourite Paris hotel and for quite some time, refused to let anyone know which one it was.

I actually sent him an e-mail begging him to tell me and he finally did as follows:

It's the Grand Hotel des Balcons, 3 rue Casimir-Delavigne. Phone 011-33-1 4634-7850; fax 4634-0627. They speak English.

Here's some other hotel information that I have on file for Paris:

Ibis, a chain of ultra-modern, elevator-equipped, brilliantly designed new budget hotels, enables every visitor to stay in a thoroughly modern, if small, room with private bath for an average expenditure of 450 to 500 francs ($72 to $83) per double room per night. Though Ibis hotels aren't found in the center of the city, they are in perfectly acceptable neighborhoods almost never more than 10 minutes away by metro from the Louvre or St. Germain des Pres. Just three short blocks from the Place de Bastille is a particularly massive, 300-room Ibis whose facilities challenge those of hotels charging twice as much, in a futuristic building block completed within the past 10 years. For more information or for reservations, you can call the U.S. number of Accor Hotels, parents of the Ibis chain, at 800/221-4542.
