Subject: Re: Paris Hotel |
Hi Linda and Frances,
Just wanted to add a note to Frances' recommendation of the Hotel des
Grand Ecoles.
We stayed there a few years ago (so things may well have changed) and
loved the location - just a short stroll to a charming Place and an
equally short stroll to some excellent little bistros. Close to a
metro also.
Friends had stayed there previously and had been accommodated in the
main hotel. We, however, were given a room in the annex at quite a
bit less money than we had reserved. We tried to explain that we had
requested one of their better rooms but to no avail. Either our
French was too poor or they didn't care! Our room was spotlessly
clean but tiny with a double bed pushed against a wall and a bathroom
that was just about big enough for one person.
We would consider staying there again but only if we could be sure of
getting a room in the main building. And, yes, the brochure does make
the property look lovely.!
Anyway there are loads of wonderful places to stay in Paris - wish we
were going again shortly, we think it's truly a magical city.
