Megan,
I loved your stories about the people you met on your trips. I agree... the
people that we met on our trips to Paris stand out even more than the sights
and the food.... the pharmacy owner who drew a map for us to get where we
were going, the elderly couple who couldn't speak English, and my French
wasn't much better, but who nevertheless, attempted to carry on a
conversation based on sign language, my bit of French, and a lot of smiling,
and more recently, the young couple who struck up a conversation with us at
dinner. It turned out he had just come from Japan, and his date was a young
Japanese girl.... well, my husband had lived in Japan as a boy, so we had a
lovely conversation. These are people we'll never run into again, but
they're a huge part of our travel memories.
