Dear Kathy

Do we have a place for you!! We just returned from Provence where we stayed at the most wonderful gite just outside of Bonnieux. A 300 year old farmhouse, completely renovated, owed by a lovely couple. Simon & I have rented many similar places in Tuscany & Provence and none have ever been as beautiful as this one. It is situated about 2 KM outside Bonnieux with the most beautiful view of Lacoste and the Chateau of the Marquis de Sade. There are 2 units available - the one we stayed in had two bedrooms as well as a loft which would be suitable for children; a fully equipped kitchen including all appliances; small living room area with television; a gorgeous terrace with table and chairs overlooking the most spectacular garden; a summer kitchen, also fully equipped; only 1 bathroom but very large with double sink, shower and wc in a separate room. Not only was it well furnished, it included things like Kleenex, toilet paper, beautiful soap made from olive oil (Provence specialty), puffy towels unlike the paltry threadbare ones that we are used to, many kitchen items such as salt, pepper, olive oil, vinegar, coffee, tea - all those things that you always have to buy as soon as you arrive, and a gorgeous pool with comfortable loungers and pads that are put out for you each morning. When we arrived, we found 2 bottles of local wine and a vase of fresh roses from the garden on the kitchen table. The other gite has just been completed and is similar without the loft and has a small pool on a terrace just outside the living room. They are both spectacular and extremely well priced at 763 euros in September, a bargain in my opinion. Brigette & Gerard also invite you for wine and appetizers on your last night and we unexpectedly spent the entire evening with this delightful couple. You can view the gite at

click on English, Accommodations, and under Bonnieux, you will find Le Petit St Jean. The pictures on the site do not do it justice - it is far more spectacular than it looks. The second gite is being added next week.

The owners are Brigette Patry and Gerard Bonnet (??) and you can e-mail them directly at

Tell them that Felice & Simon from Toronto suggested you contact them. You will not be sorry. If there is anything else you need to know, contact me.
