|Subject: Re: Charleston Accommodations|
Hi Nancy -
If you are talking about the Embassy Suites at 337 Meeting Street in Charleston, that is in the historic district, but it's not close to the Battery. It is very near the Visitor's Center and is somewhat near the Market area. Meeting Street is a very long main street in Charleston and this hotel is actually pretty far up that street from the Battery (which is right on the water). When we were in Charleston, we stayed at the Days Inn, which is at 155 Market Street. It is also not right in the Battery area, but is quite a bit closer to it and is very close to the Market.
I didn't see an Embassy Suites listed for Savannah, but when we were there, we stayed at the Days Inn again. That was very well located about a block from the Market area and a block in the other direction to River Street. The Hampton Inn (we didn't stay there but it looks very nice) is also in a very good location.
