|Subject: Re: Returning Member has France query|
My wife and I stopped at Provins on our way to Burgandy in 1998. We would do it again if it was on our route, but we're not sure we'd go out of our way for it. My wife remembers it as being a town that has prepped itself for tourism, and lacks the authenticity of a real, live working city--a bit like Disneyland, in her terms. It gets good ratings as I recall in the guidebooks (I think my old Hatchette gave it two stars), and it is attractive and has some well preserved old buildings, but there are in our view better day trips out of Paris, unless you've exhausted all of the better ones.
Hope your trip is a good one, wherever you wind up.
