|Subject: Cell Phones in Europe|
We are thinking of purchasing a European Cell Phone on our trip to Italy. Since we plan to visit Europe a number of times over the next few years, the cell phone seems to make senses (American phones don't work in Europe for the most part).
According to what I have read one simply purchases a chip for the country one is in and starts calling. However, I am told that some phones will work with only the manufacturer's chip while others will take a variety of chips. The variety of chips phone seems like a better idea to me.
Can anybody recommend brands of phones that will take chips from more than one manufacturer?
