I suggest you think about travel to Latin America, more precisely South America. In fact, why not do some research on Patagonia. See if that type of trip might interest you. We visited there last year and loved it. Our trip took us into Buenos Aires before heading south to the Valdes Peninsula and Punta Tomba to see whales and penguins, then inland to the Perito Moreno Glacier near El Calafate, from there we crossed into Chile and visited Torres del Paine National Park and Punta Arenas, then north to the island of Chiloe, continuing on through the beautiful Lake District, before finishing up in Santiago. And, oh yeah, from Buenos Aires we made a quick 3 day trip up to Iguasu Falls.
This is some of the most spectacular scenery in the world. Of course, if you're more interested in cultural travel you could consider Peru, Ecuador, and Bolivia. But definitely consider Latin America.
