Subject: RE: Florence dining
Hello Barry and others who are interested in favorite Florence dining:

Far and away, our favorite is the Giglio Rosso, which is near the corner of Vie Panzani and Giglio. If you stand with the Santa Maria Novella Train Station to your back and point your arm at a 45 degree angle, you will be pointing along Panzani; the first cross street as you walk along it is Giglio. Turn right at it is half a short block. We have eaten there since discovering it more or less by accident in 1998 (our favorite hotel, the Nizza, is next door). If you do go there, give our regards to Angelo, il capo, and tell him we are looking forward to seeing him in May.

Another one we like (although we had every meal at the Giglio Rosso last year) is Bordino's. To get there, cross at the Ponte Vecchio. It is behind the street that runs along the river, one block from where you would turn.

A third place we have eaten for pizza is Nuti's. Actually, there are two of them owned by different people in the San Lorenzo market area, and they are right across the street from each other.

Enjoy.
