Subject: Peru and Bolivia
We are three people going to Peru and Bolivia for about 3 weeks, leaving just before Christmas. Has anyone been there at this time of the year? It's the wet season but does it rain every day? We of course want to go to Machu Picchu but does anyone know if it's possible to travel to Aguas Calientes in the afternoon, too or only in the mornings? Is the train the only possibility or is it possible to go by bus or maybe taxi from Cuzco to Aguas Calientes? Everywhere only the train is mentioned, isn't there any road connecting these places? Then we would like to go to the jungle from Cuzco. Has anyone been to Puerto Maldonado? If so, was it a package tour and did it include also the flights? Is it worth going there or would you recommend another place? We would like to go somewhere for two nights. While we stay in La Paz, we would like to do a tour of 1-2 days somewhere in the Yungas area. Any ideas about an interesting place there or elsewhere nearby? If someone has otherwise any good tips concerning travelling in these two countries, we would be happy to read them.
