Subject: Re: Florence Daytrips
Hi Deb

If you haven't been to Siena, that is a must. You can take the train from Florence and spend the day wandering this city of medieval alleys, built on seven hills. Bring sneakers - it can be exhausting. Check out the Gothic Duomo, even more beautiful (in my opinion) that the one in Florence, sit in the fan-shaped Piazza del Campo, one of the most beautiful piazzas in all of Italy, visit the Palazzo Pubblico and climb up the Torre del Mangia, one of the highest medieval bell towers ever built in Italy. And, of course, have lunch at Trattoria La Torre, via Salicotto 7-9, just off the campo, Tel: 0577-287548. With a waiter (owner?) with the weirdest personality, the most outstanding taggliatelli with meat sauce, several kinds of meat all roasted in the same pan, and wine offered by colour and served in those old Chianti bottles in a basket, your day will be complete.

Have a great time Felice Toronto
