Subject: Re: Memorable Train Trips |
Hi Ziners,
One of my most memorable train trips was taking the train from Karunda to Cairns in Australia. We had taken the bus up to Karunda, but were told to take the train back down. The train looked like it was straight out of a movie set in the early 1900s. The interior of the train was done in dark mahogany wood as were the seats. My daughters who were 9 and 12 at the time were really impressed. As we started along our journey, the skies opened up and it poured buckets. The train made its way through the heavily wooded rainforest, along narrow trails and deep gorges, with the rain pouring down. But just as we turned the corner of a particularly hair-raising drop, the sun came out and I felt like I was in Shangri-la. The view was spectacular and the look of fear, delight and amazement on my daughters' faces made this ride one of the highlights of my journey. Etta in Toronto |
