Subject: Re: New Member in Australia wants tips on UK
Thanks Baerbel,

I am fascinated with stone circles and on one visit I concentrated on seeing these wherever I could - revisiting Stonehenge with my 17year old son who was blown away by the place, Avebury - we spent a lot of time here as well. I have the large spiral bound Britiain map - 3 miles to the inch - which has been well used. My 1st copy fell apart as I lent it to friends - one of whom gave me the replacement copy. I find this is great to find places I am thinking of visiting (it also helps with my family history). We did see one of the chalk horses that visit too.

I have visited Shaftesbury on the recommendation of an English friend but I haven't seen the castle - I'll add this to my list of possibles. Is Hidcote Manor Garden a NT or English Heritage property?

Thanks to everyone who has welcomed me and recommended places to see.
