|Subject: Wales and the Lake District|
Elizabeth and Steve,
If you would like the names of two excellent and reasonably priced B& Bs in the Lake District and north Wales, let me know. My travelogue and the loading of all my photographs, of our recent six week tour of the UK, is 'dragging the chain' I am sorry to say. This is due, in part, to work commitments, but the main reason is because of the quality of the prints that were captured onto CD. They are very poor while the photographs themselves are very good. I am having a 'running battle' with the developers but they are standing firm and refuse, point blank, to re-do the CDs. This means that I have to tweak every single photograph and there is over 1500, hence the time factor.
I see that film versus digital has arisen again --- well I have decided to go completely digital. Two years ago I purchased a 2.1 mega pixel Canon Ixus S100, the then smallest digital camera on the market. It was, and still is, a great wee camera, but it was always meant to supplement the SLR film camera, not to take over from it. This 2.1 m.p. camera is no good when it comes time to produce photographs of A4 size, they are too grainy, so on Friday I pick up my new 5 m.p. Nikon 5700 with 8 times optical zoom. Included in the price is a wide angle lens. Rachel will carry on using the conventional film camera, so we will have the best of both worlds.
May I take this opportunity to wish everyone on the list, a safe and happy festive season.
Regards, Richard Bloomfield(New Zealand)
