|Subject: Amalfi and Vietri Sul Mare, Italy|
I am working on my itinerary for my brief trip to Naples in the first week of March. Based on web comments, we plan to take the train from Naples, our homebase, to Sorrento and then the SITA bus to Amalfi. We hope to take the bus to Ravello too.
My question: we would prefer not to retrace our steps on our return to Naples. I see that there is a train listed as Amalfi - Vietri Sul Mare that goes to Naples (some require a change of train in Salerno). Does anyone know how to get from the town of Amalfi to the train station in Vietri?
Is there some other way that does not require going back along the coast by bus? I am brave enough to do it one way during daylight but I am not keen to do it again in the dark!
I looked at one hydrofoil company (Le Nostra Linee) but it looks like there is no service now and most likely won't be in the first week of March.
Last question: do you know whether it is permitted to break our bus journey in Positano for a brief lookaround?
