I am in the process of planning a trip to the same area, probably in early May. I just finished A Lambing Season in Ireland: Tales of a Vet's Wife by Maria Coffey, about the western part of the Iveragh Peninsula. I enjoyed it very much and it gave a vivid picture of the life of farmers in that area. As tourists driving around the Ring of Kerry, enjoying the rugged scenery, it's easy to forget how hard it is to make a living there.
