|Subject: Re: Leaving Jan 8 -- any Puerto Vallarta suggestions?|
We go to PV every year at this time - leaving Friday. We have some wonderful restaurants that we love to go and some we go to every year though we do try to go to some new ones. Pippi's which is in town is wonderful - they have a mariachi trio and make the best guacamole in town. Their margueritas according to Harvey are awesome - quite large. They do not take reservations but the wait at the bar is worth the people you meet. We usually go into town each nite - watch the sun set from the Malecon. There are also several restaurants where you can go have a lovely meal and watch the sun set - the Panorama in town is one of them.
It is definitely worth walking through the old part of town - across the bridge - just the people watching is great. There are so many wonderful restaurants and shopping is also great especially in the old town.
We often travel by bus and taxi - the taxi prices have gone up over the years - the bus is fun and about 4 - 8 pesos depending where you start and end.
There is a great restaurant - Night of Iguana - which is where part of the movie was filmed (if you have not seen it it is worth seeing before you go) - it is in the area call Mismaloya (past the town of Puerto Vallarta) - we have gone for brunch - lovely view.
Re monies - we take no traveler checks as there many ATMs in different areas and as well areas in town and I am sure in Nuevo Vallarta where you can change money. We use credit cards where we can and ATMs for cash that we need. - get better rates of exchange that way.
We will be staying at the Qualton Hotel (we have a time share there) if you are interested in a GTG let me know - we will be there from the 10 - 17th of january. If you call us there ask for Harvey Beitchman.
enjoy - Puerto Vallarta is great. If you would like more detailed information let me know.
