Subject: Re: Best area of Rome for newbies?
Hi Pauline,

We just came back on the 29th from Italy, and when in Rome we stayed very near termini on Via Gioberti, the hotel name is the Scotthouse, now Italy from what I saw has a very strange way of rating their hotels... this one had a Queen size clean bed for two persons and a clean private bathroom, small tv, electrical outlets and everything... and it was a two star !!!! They trated us very nice, everyday in the morning they would ask if we needed directions, they serve breakfest in the morning (crosaint and coffee!!!), they had a computer with internet (very crowded in the early morning) that you could use for free and the hotel had a lift... I had heard that it was very noisy and that you couldn't sleep...jaja we got a room with a window to the street and had NO problem sleeping... we saw no thieves or homeless people around so it was very good.. and i got it for only 55.00 euros...

Now ...about the weather... it was excellent, i have no doubt that the Italians were using their coats and furr jackets just for kicks of it.. you could walk around in a good sweater... It only rained one night like from 7 to 9 pm and it never rained again... sun was up everyday... it might be colder now... but who knows... right before we left we checked out the the weather channel website... it said it was raining everyday... and it was not raining for whole week we were there...

It might sound strange that I would give such a good review to a 2 star hotel but consider the use you are giving to it... we used it just to sleep at night and bath in the morning... and it's very near the station so if you are going on to other places on train is very nice not to have to carry bags for a long way...

the hotel has a website http:\\www.scotthouse.com
