|Subject: re: Re: Amalfi Coast|
My husband and I traveled the Amalfi Coast last May. We took the train from Rome to Naples where we changed to the local train. While we were waiting for the local train, an older woman cautioned me to watch my purse. Very nice of her to remind me. Anyway we took the train to Sorrento where we stayed in a very nice B& B. The next day we trained back to Pompeii. We were impressed by the site. I hadn't imagined it would be so large. However, the tour we took was not very good. The next day we went from Sorrento to Capri and the following day we picked up a rental car and drove to Positano. We both felt that this drive was not difficult at all. I had been prepared to be scared, but it was not at all like that. We were driving on a Sunday and for us the traffic seemed light. In Positano we drove right by our hotel and had to circle around again---the road thru is one way and you havea to be alert so that you don't miss your place. We parked our car in a lot. The next day we took the ferry to Amalfi--we liked it a lot--and from Amalfi we took the bus to Ravello. This was our favorite place. We drove from Positano to Paestum--the drive was a bit harder, but we got behind a SITA bus and that made it easy as all the cars coming from the other direction gave deference to the bus and we got the benefit from that. We really enjoyed Paestum--stayed in a great cheap B& B. I had always wanted to see a Greek temple and these were wonderful. The site is huge.
