Hi Etta,
In Sorrento the B & B was villa Oriana, Via Rubinacci,1 80067 Sorrento. The fax was 081-8785907 and the telephone was 081-8782468. The price for 2 nights was 230 Eur (vat included). It included a very nice breakfast. When we arrived on the train from Rome, we took a taxi to the villa. It is not on the waterfront, but is in the hills above Sorrento. The owner drove us to the ferry when we went to Capri, and drove us to the station when we went to Pompeii. We liked the villa and the owner a lot--there is a lovely view from their terrace and even tho we were not right in town found the location to suit our needs. We found the villa on http://www.venere.com In Positano, we stayed at Villa Rosa which we found in a Karen Brown Book. The price was 124 Euro per night which included VAT and continental breakfast served on our terrace. (we loved that!) . The room had a private bath and was very nice. The only drawback is that it had so many stairs, and the parking was 16 euro/day. It was a good walk to the beach and ferry site and an even harder walk back--as a result we did not find it convenient to just pop out to go to the beach. I noticed that some of the expensive hotels have elevators to go to the beach area. We did go to Amalfi via the ferry which we caught at the beach area. That was very fun. Oh, here is the e-mail for the villa http://www.villarosapositano.it Hope this helps. Mary from California |
