Hi, Michael
We live in Vancouver and will be very pleased to be of help.
Re your question about renting a car on-line versus renting it on arrival, why don't you make a tentative on-line reservation and get a quote, You can then give me the details of that reservation (rental company, type of car, dates etc) and I'll get a local quote on the phone which I will send you. That way you can compare prices. By the way, I have just checked with Avis, Hertz and Budget; none of them have a surcharge for picking up/returning cars from/to the airport. As to accommodation, I don't know of any chains that issue vouchers. It may actually be better to make your bookings as you go along. You shouldn't have any problems in April other than, maybe, the weather. Here are a few websites that may help you decide what you want to see (you may already be familiar with them): http://www.eyeseavancouver.com/vancouver.html http://www.tourismvancouver.com/docs/visit http://www.walkvancouver.com If you could tell us how much time you will have in the Vancouver area, what type/price of accommodation you need and what you are particularly interested in, we will try and make some suggestions.
