Subject: Re:Spain: help for 2 weeks
Dear Michelle -

Sorry for the late response to your request. We have been to Spain many times and to add my 2 cents, I think you are taking on too much for a 2-week vacation. I would suggest that you either take in Barcelona and it's environs (about 4 - 5 days - many wonderful small museums, Gaudi everything and walking, walking, walking), or the Madrid area - north to Toledo and Segovia and/or west through the explorer country of Trujuillo and Cacares or do the South - Granada, Cordoba and Seville. These last three have a wonderful, not to be missed, highlight of Ronda - a perched village with, I believe the first bull ring (exquisite) and a Marquesa mansion that is very interesting.

When we were last in the Seville area, we stayed in a fantastic, romantic walled village - Carmona (about 20 min outside of Seville) called Casa de Carmona (It is listed in Zine places to stay in Spain) - but I believe it has become very, very expensive. However, if you choose to splurge, you won't be disappointed.

Also, if you decide that rural is the way to go, perhaps you might consider going into the Alpujarra region (while villages in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada southwest of Granada) -- This is a charming area - We were here as well as the Southeast coast some years ago. We absolutely loved it and I did a write up on our trip in the Zine files under travelogues

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TheTravelzine/files/Travelogues%20/ have some pictures, too, if you're interested.

Also, I, too, use Allistar Sawday's Best B & B Guide to Spain, as one of the other Ziner's mentioned, and we found wonderful accommodations - always interesting - some deluxe but never deluxe in budget (in the Alpujarra and above Nerja and in Malaga) and would recommend this guide totally for anyone!!!

If I can be of further help, please let me know!!! Susie, Newton, MA
