|Subject: Re: Northeast Italy - advice, please|
Several respondents have mentioned Verona, which is certainly an excellent choice. Let me put in my $.02 for Padua, even though part of my interest in it arises from my interest as an academic in the wonderful, historic university. However, it is also 20 minutes away from Venice and much cheaper (we love the Igea hotel) and prefer the food (the wonderful Vecchia Padua). It has superb art (the Scrovigni Chapel at the University), and you are only an hour away from Verona and, the city that really charmed us last year, Bassano del Grappa.
