|Subject: Hotel and Airline points - A dollar value??|
I must first admit that this question may not have any answer, but I thought I would throw it out in the event that it does. I am wondering if anybody knows of a study that estimates the dollar value of a Hotel point or Airline mile?
For example, is it worth spending $5 more to stay at the ABC hotel and get 100 points towards a free room vs. staying at the XYZ hotel and getting no points but saving the $5. We will assume that the hotels are functionally equivalent.
I suspect that somewhere, someplace, an academic has done a study of this and can offer guidelines. If you know of such information, please pass it on to me.
Thank you. Paul Greater Seattle
