|Subject: Re: Advice re Como and Naples|
We stayed at the Hotel Cavour in Naples the end of September. We were satisfied, however, I would say that it is past it's prime. It was clean and the location can't be beat. While we were there the elevator went out which wasn't a problem for us altho we were on the higher levels. We had our own balcony which overlooked a main street and was noisey, but as I said we were satisfied. I will say that while we were checking out an American who had just arrived was at the desk complaining about the elevator and the fact that their room was not attractive and since it was a three star hotel they expected something attractive. We didn't stick around to see how that ended. We ate at the restaurant a couple of times and the food was good. We found another restaurant really close that was really good. If you exit the front door of Cavour turn right and right again at the corner. Within a block or two looking to the left you will see a restaurant (across the main street and down a side street) If you are arriving by train you can easily walk to Cavour. As you exit the station turn right and walk up the side of the square and the hotel is at the other end of the square. As far as getting places the Cavour is in a good location. We walked to the archeological museum. In front of the hotel is the terminus and beginning of many of the city buses and of course in the station you can pick up the metro, and various trains.
Although it won't be a problem for you - the hotel staff has very little English and we were not always able to get directions clearly, altho we got to everything we wanted to see.
